In a bid to douse growing tensions over the longstanding boundary dispute between Oyo and Osun states, the Oyo State Government has called for restraint and constructive dialogue.

Addressing the issue on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, cautioned against inflammatory public exchanges, urging both parties to allow diplomatic channels to work.

“The media thrives on conflict, and while these fiery statements make headlines, they only derail the quiet, serious work being done behind the scenes,” Oyelade noted in an official statement.

He emphasized that both Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo and Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun are in full cooperation with the National Boundary Commission to peacefully resolve the land dispute.

According to the commissioner, traditional institutions must play a constructive role rather than complicating the process. “The two governors are aligned in their commitment to finding a lasting, amicable solution,” he said.

The state government urged all parties to remain calm and allow ongoing negotiations to proceed without further provocation.
