The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Monday received 203 vulnerable Nigerian returnees who arrived from Libya at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The reception was carried out in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the Nigeria Immigration Service, and other federal agencies.
According to a statement shared on NEMA’s official X handle on Tuesday, the returnees—comprising 50 adult males, 96 adult females, 29 children, and 28 infants—arrived aboard a chartered Al Buraq Boeing flight with registration number 5A-BAC at 7:00 p.m.
NEMA confirmed that the return operation was part of a voluntary humanitarian repatriation exercise coordinated by the IOM to support distressed Nigerians stranded abroad.

The agency noted that two individuals with medical needs were promptly transferred to New Ikeja Hospitals for treatment.
Following a biometric and profiling process, the returnees were relocated to the Igando Internally Displaced Persons resettlement centre to begin a reintegration programme aimed at helping them rebuild their lives.
NEMA reaffirmed its commitment to working with local and international partners to ensure humane return, rehabilitation, and reintegration for vulnerable citizens abroad.
