President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday arrived in Anambra State for an official working visit, marking a significant moment in the state’s political and infrastructural landscape. The Nigerian leader touched down at the Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, at approximately 12:17 p.m. aboard a Nigerian Air Force Airbus.
Dressed in the traditional Akwete Igbo fabric and a matching red cap, President Tinubu was received with full honors. Upon arrival, he proceeded to the ceremonial podium where the national anthem was rendered, followed by a formal salute from combined personnel of the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Welcoming the President were Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo; Deputy Governor Onyekachukwu Ibezim; members of the State House of Assembly; and other top dignitaries from across the state. Also on the President’s entourage was the National Security Adviser, Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu, among other high-ranking officials.
Following the reception, President Tinubu entered a waiting official vehicle alongside Governor Soludo, en route to several key locations where he is scheduled to inaugurate signature projects completed by the current administration.

According to the state government, the President is expected to commission a series of infrastructural developments, including the newly constructed State Government House, the Solution Fun City recreational complex, and a brand new Governor’s Lodge — the first of its kind in over three decades. Also on the list is the refurbished House of Assembly complex, part of a broader vision to modernize state governance infrastructure.
The visit also includes a high-level town hall meeting between the President and prominent stakeholders from Anambra, to be held at the newly upgraded Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka. The gathering is aimed at fostering dialogue on critical development issues in the region.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Dr Alex Obiogbolu, party members were advised not to wear political uniforms to the venue, emphasizing the non-partisan nature of the President’s visit.
As the state capital, Awka, wears a fresh, vibrant look in anticipation of the historic event, the visit underscores the federal government’s engagement with sub-national development and reaffirms Tinubu’s commitment to collaborative governance across the country.
