The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 21-year-old woman, Fatima Salisu, suspected of trafficking ammunition to terrorist groups operating in parts of the state and neighboring Katsina.
According to a statement released on Thursday by the Command’s spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, Salisu was apprehended in the Azuba area of Lafia following credible intelligence.
She was reportedly en route to deliver a cache of ammunition through Keana and Doma Local Government Areas, both known for terror-linked activities.
The intelligence-led operation was launched on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima J. Mohammed, who deployed the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit to intercept the suspect.

The operation led to the seizure of 400 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition and 81 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, believed to be destined for criminal elements in Katsina State.
“The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing thorough interrogation,” Nansel said. “Our investigators are working to uncover the full network behind this operation and its links to broader security threats, including banditry and terrorism.”
The police described the arrest as a major breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on illegal arms trafficking in the region and reiterated its commitment to keeping Nasarawa State safe.
Authorities are also appealing to the public for continued cooperation by sharing timely and accurate information that could aid in maintaining security.
