About 50 civil servants under the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) are still waiting for their April salaries after being mistakenly delisted and labelled as “ghost workers.”
These workers, some from key units like the medical department, were among 230 names dropped from the payroll during a system cleanup.
The move triggered a warning strike by the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) and other unions. That action led to the reinstatement of many affected workers and the release of their pay.
But nearly 50 remain unpaid. Officials blamed it on “technical hitches.”

FCT Civil Service Commission chairman, Chief Emeka Ezeh, admitted the mistake last week and apologised. He promised payments would be made by Friday.
“We were trying to clean up the payroll and in the process, some genuine staff were mistakenly affected,” Ezeh said.
By Wednesday, May 14, there was still no payment or update.
The workers want urgent action. They say continued silence could fuel anger among staff already struggling with financial pressure.
The Commission has yet to give a fresh response.
