Gunmen Kill Lawyer, Client in Broad Daylight Attack in Anambra

Tragedy struck in Nanka community, Orumba North LGA of Anambra State, on Thursday as gunmen on a motorcycle shot and killed a lawyer and his client in a targeted daylight attack.

The victims, traveling in a red Toyota Camry, were double-crossed in Egbebelu village and ambushed by the assailants, eyewitnesses said. One of the men was killed instantly.

The lawyer, according to police, had just secured bail for an accused person in a murder case at High Court II in Ekwulobia.

A third occupant of the vehicle survived and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital. Police say the survivor has been debriefed and is providing critical leads.

Confirming the incident, Anambra State Police Command spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, visited the scene with senior officers and detectives.

A red Toyota Camry believed to belong to one of the victims was recovered.

The killings have sparked outrage and concern over growing insecurity in Anambra State.
