Chaos erupted in the Abovwe community of Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State on Sunday.
The unrest was said to be triggered by an assault from armed thugs and security personnel, who were believed to be operating under the directives of the beleaguered council chairman, Jaro Egbo.
A video making the rounds on social media, seen by a First News correspondent on Sunday, showed some suspected thugs and security personnel disrupting a family meeting convened by the Abovwe Descendants Union (ADU).

In the video, elderly men, women, and youths were assaulted, and properties like chairs and canopies were also destroyed.
Multiple reports gathered by First News correspondent indicated that Egbo, through a statement signed by the Secretary to the Local Government, Goodluck Unuavworho, announced the dissolution of the Motor Parks Revenue Committee.
The decision was attributed to the committee’s alleged inability to uphold accurate and transparent financial record-keeping.
