Dangote Refinery Lowers Petrol Price by ₦15 Nationwide

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a new cut in petrol prices, slashing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) rates by ₦15 per litre across all regions.

Under the revised price structure shared Thursday, May 22, on the refinery’s official social media channels, petrol will now sell for between ₦875 and ₦905 per litre, depending on location.

Lagos residents, who previously paid ₦890, will now pay ₦875 per litre. In the North-East and South-South, where the rate had been ₦920, petrol now sells at ₦905 per litre.

A regional breakdown shows the following rates: Lagos: ₦875, South-West: ₦885, North-East: ₦905, North-West & Central: ₦895, South-South & South-East: ₦905

The new pricing applies to all major retail partners, including MRS, Ardova, Heyden, Optima Energy, Techno Oil, and Hyde Energy.

Consumers were advised to buy from authorised Dangote outlets and report any non-compliance via the refinery’s hotlines: +234 707 470 2099 and +234 707 470 2100.

“Our quality petrol and diesel are refined for better engine performance and are environmentally friendly,” the company said in its public notice.

According to internal findings, the price adjustment comes on the heels of a refund benefit policy reinstated by the refinery earlier in the week.

The move also coincides with renewed large-scale petrol importation by independent marketers. Over 496 million litres of petrol reportedly entered the country between May 11 and 20, 2025, based on data obtained from the Tanker Position Report by Blue Sea Maritime.

On Monday, Dangote Refinery explained that the naira-for-crude oil arrangement had helped lower petrol prices.

Despite global fluctuations in crude prices, the company says it remains committed to affordable fuel.

“The decision to maintain price stability reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting the Nigerian economy and alleviating the burden on consumers from the increase in fuel prices,” said Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer.
