Golden Eaglets Dominate Ebonyi 5-0 to Reach National Sports Festival Semi-Finals

The Golden Eaglets, Nigeria’s five-time world youth champions, stormed into the semi-finals of the football event at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State with an emphatic 5-0 thrashing of Ebonyi State in Friday’s quarter-final clash.

Abdulmuiz Adeleke, who had scored the opener in Monday’s 2-1 victory over Edo State, continued his rich vein of form by scoring twice against Ebonyi, powering the Eaglets into the tournament’s last four.

Mohammed Imrana, another key player from the earlier win, also found the net on Friday.

However, his afternoon ended on a sour note after receiving a red card late in the game.

The five-goal margin highlighted the squad’s strength and depth, boosting their confidence as they gear up for the semi-finals.

The National Sports Festival continues to serve as a valuable platform for Nigeria’s emerging football stars, with both the Golden Eaglets and Flamingos using the competition to sharpen their skills ahead of future international challenges.
