A medical doctor has allegedly raped his 11-year-old housemaid in Otukpo, Benue State.
First News learnt that the doctor, simply identified as Ebele, runs a clinic in Obi, a local government area near Otukpo.
The 40-year-old doctor was alleged to have forcibly had sexual intercourse with the maid at his residence behind a popular radio station in Otukpo on Tuesday night.
He was said to have brought the little girl from his village in Obi LGA to help do domestic chores as well as look after his toddler.
Witnesses said the doctor, whose wife was away from home, capitalised on that to have forcible carnal knowledge of the 11-year-old maid.
Family sources said that the girl said that the doctor began making advances to her two days before his wife travelled to Kaduna.
The victim alleged that on the first night of the doctor’s wife’s absence from home, her husband (doctor) returned from an outing and pretended to be drunk and attempted to caress her, but she fled from the house.
But she alleged that by Tuesday night, the doctor came back again, and this time whisked her away from where she had slept straight into his room where he forced himself on her.
The minor was said to have sustained injuries on her genital, neck and mouth following her attempt to free herself before the doctor overpowered her.
The doctor himself, it was learnt, has attributed his bad behaviour on the influence of excessive alcohol, claiming that he never intended to molest her.
Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Catherine Anene, confirmed that there was a rape case in Otukpo, but said she had yet to get the details.
“Yes, the case is at the police station in Otukpo,” Anene said.
