Federal High Court Begins Vacation July 28, Select Divisions Open

The Federal High Court is set to begin its annual vacation for the year 2025 on July 28, according to an official statement released on Thursday.

Catherine Christopher, Director of Information at the court, disclosed that the vacation will run until September 17, when full judicial activities are expected to resume across all divisions of the court.

However, the court has made provisions for the handling of urgent and time-sensitive matters during the recess.

Only the Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt divisions will remain operational throughout the vacation period, serving as hubs for judicial relief in cases deemed to be of “extreme urgency.”

To ensure efficiency, vacation judges have been designated for the respective divisions. In Abuja, Justices Emeka Nwite and M. S. Liman will be on duty.

The Lagos division will be covered by Justices Deinde Dipeolu and Musa Kakaki, while Justices P. M. Ayua and A. T. Mohammed will preside over urgent cases in Port Harcourt.

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, has extended his best wishes to all judges of the court, hoping they enjoy a restful and refreshing vacation.

Members of the public with pressing legal issues are advised to approach the nearest operational division for appropriate legal remedies during the court’s recess.
