The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, has presented cheques totaling N13.7 million to the families of seven police officers who lost their lives in active service.
This was disclosed known in a statement released on Monday and made available to newsmen early Tuesday by the state police command’s spokesperson, SP William Aya.
According to the statement, the financial support was provided under the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the IGP Family Welfare Scheme, as part of ongoing efforts by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to support the families of deceased officers.
“The presentation is in line with the IGP’s vision to ensure that the families of fallen heroes are not forgotten but are adequately supported through structured welfare initiatives,” the statement read.
While handing over the cheques on Monday, June 16, 2025, CP Dantawaye reiterated the police force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families.

He emphasised that honouring the sacrifices of officers who died in the line of duty is a key priority under the current police leadership.
“This gesture is not only a mark of respect for their service but also a reassurance that the Nigeria Police Force stands firmly with the families they left behind,” he said.
He encouraged the recipients to use the financial support wisely and reaffirmed the command’s dedication to the values of service, sacrifice, and care.
One of the beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the others, thanking the IGP for remembering their loved ones and providing support during a difficult time.
