Police Recover Vandalised Cables, Motorcycles in Kebbi Patrol Operation

The Kebbi State Police Command has recovered vandalised high-tension cables and abandoned motorcycles allegedly left behind by suspected infrastructure vandals during a routine patrol in Ribah District, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the suspects fled upon sighting a joint security team of police officers and local vigilantes along the Saki/Unashi road at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Monday, June 16.

“They abandoned their motorcycles and the vandalised cables as they fled to avoid being caught,” Abubakar said.

The recovered items have since been secured by the police, and an investigation is underway to apprehend the culprits.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, praised the patrol team for their swift and professional response, reiterating the command’s commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure across the state.

“The Kebbi State Police Command will continue to protect important public assets and ensure the safety of residents across all communities,” Sani stated.

The incident highlights the persistent threat of infrastructure vandalism in rural areas and underscores the need for continued vigilance and security presence in vulnerable communities.
