The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to evacuate its citizens currently stranded in Israel and Iran, as tensions and bombings between the two countries continue to escalate.
This was revealed on Thursday in a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, on behalf of the Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.
Ambassador Tuggar emphasised the government’s commitment to safeguarding Nigerians abroad, stating that the evacuation initiative is a direct response to the ongoing conflict, now in its seventh day.
He called on all Nigerian nationals in the affected areas to adhere to safety protocols and immediately contact the nearest Nigerian embassies in Tel Aviv and Tehran for registration and evacuation arrangements.
“The government remains fully committed to the safety and welfare of all its citizens, both at home and abroad,” Tuggar said.
He commended the swift and dedicated efforts of Nigeria’s diplomatic missions in both countries, acknowledging their role in providing critical support and timely assistance to Nigerian nationals amid the crisis.
Tuggar further stated that the government is working closely with international partners and local authorities to ensure a coordinated, safe, and timely evacuation process.
