The National Rescue Movement (NRM) has declared its readiness to liberate Nigerians from the crippling effects of hunger, inflation, and insecurity allegedly worsened by the current administration’s policies, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy.
The party’s National Women Leader, Mrs. Sola Oluwatunmise, made this known during a visit to Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Friday, as part of her nationwide tour to mobilize and empower women ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oluwatunmise said the NRM is prepared to take over power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the President Bola Tinubu-led government of plunging Nigerians into deeper economic hardship.
“Nigerians are tired of the shackles of hunger, insecurity, and inflation. The NRM is here to rescue the people and offer real hope. That’s why we’re mobilizing women across the country to stand up and take their place,” she stated.
Lamenting the low participation of women in Nigerian politics, Oluwatunmise emphasized the need to amplify women’s voices in governance. She said her 36-state tour aims to strengthen the women’s wing of the party and inspire more women to pursue leadership roles.
“It’s unfortunate that women make up less than 3% of political office holders in Nigeria — that has to change,” she said.

“In 2027, women must rise. We must be heard and seen. My goal is to empower and build capacity in women to take active political roles.”
The NRM women’s leader also stressed that the party is not new, noting that it has existed for over five years and remains committed to people-oriented governance.
“NRM is more than a political party — it’s a movement. It’s time Nigerians knew about it. We are going to every state to raise a strong voice for change, especially among women.”
She concluded by reaffirming the party’s commitment to fielding credible candidates and fostering inclusivity ahead of the 2027 polls.
