Lagos Woman Remanded for Assaulting Task Force Over Pedestrian Bridge Violation

A woman identified as Chidinma Obishe has been remanded in prison until July 8, 2025, following an altercation with Lagos State taskforce officers who apprehended her for failing to use a pedestrian bridge at Ojota.

This was disclosed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, in a statement posted on social media.

According to Wahab, Obishe resisted arrest and reportedly launched a violent attack on some of the taskforce personnel during the incident.

“Chidinma Obishe resisted arrest when she was apprehended for not using the pedestrian bridge at Ojota. She violently attacked some of our personnel,” Wahab stated.

He added that the Magistrate Court sitting at Bolade has ordered her remand in prison custody pending her court appearance scheduled for July 8.

The incident highlights the ongoing enforcement efforts by Lagos authorities to ensure pedestrian safety and reduce road accidents by compelling foot traffic to use designated pedestrian bridges.

Authorities have continued to urge residents to comply with public safety laws to avoid unnecessary confrontations and legal consequences.
