Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says his children, like all Nigerian citizens, are entitled to own land, as long as legal processes are followed.
Speaking during a media chat in Abuja on Thursday, July 3, Wike addressed widespread claims that he allocated thousands of hectares of prime land in Maitama and Asokoro to his sons.
“Assuming, though not conceding, my children applied for land. Are they not citizens? Are they Ghanaians? Even if they applied, are they not entitled because I’m minister?” Wike asked.
He denied the allegations, describing them as “rubbish” and politically motivated.
“The whole thing is rubbish. Where in Maitama and Asokoro can you find 2,000 hectares? Bring the documents, bring empirical evidence,” he challenged.

Wike said the reports, which surfaced online, were part of a smear campaign allegedly sponsored by an individual from Adamawa State.
“First, calculate land in Maitama and Asokoro and tell me where you’d get 2,000 hectares of land. And I know where it is coming from. It is from Adamawa State. I am aware,” he said.
The claims stated that 2,082 hectares were allocated to one son via JOAQ Farms and Estates Limited, and another 1,740 hectares to a second son, Jordan—altogether valued at $6.45 billion.
Wike, however, dismissed the figures and locations as implausible. He insisted there is no such volume of undeveloped land in the two elite districts of Abuja and called for evidence from his accusers.
