Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has issued a sharp rebuke of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, declaring that Abuja residents are ready to “deal with” him during the upcoming local government elections.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm, Kingibe accused Wike of being disconnected from the needs of the capital’s residents and failing to address key developmental issues since assuming office.
“The truth is that the people of the FCT resent Wike,” Kingibe said during the interview. “They are not happy with his attitude and his failure to meet their needs.”
According to her, Wike’s leadership has stirred discontent across the territory, with communities feeling neglected on matters ranging from infrastructure to public services. She described the forthcoming council polls as a litmus test for the minister’s popularity and performance.

“The people will show him who owns the FCT during the council polls,” she added confidently.
The remarks are likely to intensify the political tension in the FCT, where Wike—former governor of Rivers State—has faced growing criticism from both residents and political figures over his controversial style of governance.
Observers believe the local elections in Abuja could become a symbolic referendum on Wike’s influence and a rallying point for opposition to his policies in the capital.
