VIDEO: Woman in Viral Video Denies Giving Baby Alcohol, Says It Was Staged

A Nigerian mother who was declared wanted by the Nigerian Police after a video of her feeding her baby with alcohol went viral has come out to clarify the incident.

The video, which was posted by First News a few days ago, showed the woman feeding her baby from a sachet labelled “Action Bitters,” with a caption suggesting it was given every night to make the child sleep.

After the video circulated on social media, the Nigerian Police Force immediately launched an investigation into the incident.

However, while clarifying herself in a video on Wednesday, the yet-to-be-identified woman claimed that she did not give her child alcohol but rather Coca-Cola, which she had poured into an empty Action Bitters sachet.

According to her, she staged it purely for “content” to attract engagement online, adding she had video evidence showing when she washed the sachet and filled it with Coke.

To support her claim, she said she had another video showing the moment she filled the sachet with the soft drink.

She said, “About the video I posted earlier, that is not Action Bitters. It is Coke. I poured Coke into the sachet. Since I posted the video, people have been dragging me on social media,” she said.

“To be sincere, it was Coke I poured into the Action Bitters sachet. I even have a video on my phone showing when I was doing it.

“My baby is just five months old. I would never give her Action Bitters. I am not that kind of mother. I do not even take it myself.

“To clear the air, it was Coke I poured into the sachet, and I washed it before using it.

“I was just trying to create content, nothing more. We are begging Nigerians, please forgive us.”
