Troops Kill 30 Bandits in Katsina, Lose 5 Security Personnel in Fierce Clash

In a fierce counter-assault against a large-scale, coordinated bandit invasion, joint Nigerian security forces neutralised at least 30 armed assailants during a deadly clash across three communities in Faskari Local Government Area on Tuesday.

The attackers had stormed Kadisau, Raudama, and Sabon Layi in a synchronized onslaught, drawing a swift and forceful response from a coalition of police units, military personnel, and Nigerian Air Force operatives.

Despite the successful operation, tragedy struck the security ranks. Three Mobile Police officers and two soldiers lost their lives in the line of duty.

Another officer, Ya’u Aliyu, was wounded in the encounter and is currently receiving treatment.

Confirming the incident on Wednesday, Nasir Mua’zu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in Katsina State, praised the bravery of the fallen heroes, assuring their families of government support.

“Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. The government stands firmly with their families and the affected communities during this time of grief,” Mua’zu said in an official statement.

The commissioner further reaffirmed Governor Dikko Radda’s administration’s resolve to stamp out insecurity across the state.

He appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and proactive by sharing timely intelligence with authorities.

“We will not rest until every criminal element is eliminated from our territory. Our operations are intensifying, and with the support of federal security agencies, we are working around the clock to secure all residents,” Mua’zu added.

Investigations into the attacks are ongoing, with the government promising to keep the public informed as developments unfold.
