The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) will on Wednesday, the 16th of July, 2025, issue certificates of return to newly elected officials in the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas of Lagos.
Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (retd.), who chairs the commission, confirmed the event during a phone call. She explained that the presentation was meant to happen on Tuesday but was shifted due to a public holiday declared by the Federal Government.
“It was supposed to be held on Tuesday,” she stated. “But due to the public holiday on that day, it has been moved to the next working day, which is Wednesday.”
The holiday was declared to honour the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in London on Sunday. His burial is scheduled for Tuesday in Daura, Katsina State.
A LASIEC official, speaking on condition of anonymity, also confirmed that the presentation would take place at the commission’s office on Wednesday, the 16th of July.

The only seat the APC lost was Ward D in Yaba LCDA, where PDP’s Babatunde Dosunmu defeated his APC rival.
Justice Okikiolu-Ighile (retd.) announced the full results from LASIEC’s headquarters in Sabo, Yaba, on Sunday, the 13th of July, 2025.
