A video showing a Celestial Church prophet selling a giant candle for ₦1.5 million during service at Ephphata Parish on Sunday has generated widespread controversy.
The clip, posted by TikTok user @yourariesqueenofficial, begins with the prophet announcing an initial bid of ₦500,000. The bidding escalates, reaching ₦1.5 million, when a young man from the congregation makes the purchase.
The TikTok caption reads: “A giant candle was sold today at Ephphata parish. Omo, I was wowed. It was later sold for N1.5 million. Celestial with doings. Hmmmm.”

After the sale, many online viewers questioned the appropriateness of auctioning such an expensive item during worship. Some called it more of a commercial transaction than a spiritual act.
The church leadership has not yet issued any official statement in response to the video’s emergence.
