Anti-Party Moves: PDP to Decide Wike’s Fate Next Week — S’South Chair

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will next week decide on disciplinary action against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over his recent actions and comments, according to the party’s South South Zonal Caretaker Committee Chairman, Emmanuel Ogidi.

Ogidi disclosed this during a television interview on Wednesday, August 6, stating that the National Working Committee (NWC) was ready to act after what he described as Wike’s repeated provocations and divided loyalty.

“PDP is a big family, but I can tell you the NWC will take action on Wike next week, because you cannot serve two masters,” Ogidi said.

“He is doing the agenda of the APC, but we have been tolerating him because of his past record. He was very good before now, he did a lot. But others have also done so. He has gone too far.”

Ogidi accused the former Rivers governor of harming both the PDP and the APC with his utterances, and suggested that the party had exercised enough restraint.

His comments came in response to Wike’s appearance on television on Monday, where the minister set conditions for peace within the PDP.

He demanded that the party recognise the South South zonal congress conducted by his faction, which he said produced Dan Orbih as national vice chairman.

“During our South South zonal congress, the acting national chairman claimed that the PDP governors were not in support of the congress. Where are the PDP governors today?” Wike asked. “If they want another round of crisis, so be it.”

Wike also called for the rejection of the South East zonal congress that produced Ali Odefa and others, insisting both actions must be reversed before the party’s national convention if peace is to be achieved.
