A former Labour Party, LP, governorship candidate in Plateau State, Chief Yohana Yilpwan Margif, has accused Governor Caleb Mutfwang of maintaining silence while terrorists and bandits allegedly overrun communities and seize their lands.
Margif, who serves as the Waziri Mushere in Bokkos Local Government Area, issued a statement on Sunday, the 10th of August, 2025, alleging that Fulani herders are plotting to annihilate the Mushere people and take control of their territories.
Describing the situation as “a creeping but coordinated plot by agents of terror,” he claimed that the ultimate aim is to annex vast portions of Plateau, leaving the indigenous population without land or hope.
He condemned the killings and attacks on villages across the state, insisting they follow a deliberate plan to capture ancestral farmlands. According to him, the most troubling aspect is “the silence of the governor.”
The community leader alleged that heavily armed Fulani herdsmen are strategically working to seize about 40 percent of Plateau’s agricultural lands, using superior weapons to overpower defenceless locals abandoned by the government.

“It breaks my heart that Governor Caleb Mutfwang has yet to fulfil promises made to grieving communities during his visits,” Margif stated,
adding that these “unkept assurances may have emboldened the attackers.”
He further declared, “Today, the herders have declared an open war, and Mushere Chiefdom, my people are now their direct target. This is no time for silence.”
Margif urged residents to close ranks and pressure leaders into action. “We must unite and demand urgent action from leaders who appear to have forgotten their sacred duty of protecting lives and property,” he warned, calling on every Plateau citizen to “rise from their slumber, shun complacency, and confront the existential threat.”
