JAMB Sets October Deadline for 2025 University Admissions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed all public universities in Nigeria to conclude their 2025 admission processes on or before October 31.

In a bulletin released on Monday, the board also fixed November 30 as the deadline for private universities, while all other tertiary institutions—public and private—must finalise admissions by December 31, 2025.

The timelines, JAMB explained, were agreed upon at the 2025 Policy Meeting chaired by the Minister of Education.

According to the board, the measure is designed to ensure fairness in admissions and bring stability to the nation’s academic calendar.

“Public universities are expected to complete admissions by October 31, private universities by November 30, while all other institutions must close admissions by December 31, 2025,” the statement read.

The board further instructed institutions to complete post-UTME screening exercises promptly to meet the deadlines.

It emphasised that schools unable to commence their academic sessions immediately should still conclude and archive their admissions within the stipulated timeframe.

JAMB maintained that strict compliance with the directive is necessary to avoid disruption in academic activities and to ensure equal opportunity for applicants across the country.
