Former Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards has opened up about suffering a miscarriage at 24 weeks, describing the ordeal as “horrendous” and the most painful experience of her life.

Edwards, 32, shared the story during an emotional appearance on the We Need To Talk podcast with relationship expert Paul C. Brunson, released on August 19, 2025. She recalled that the loss happened during her second trimester, around 22 to 24 weeks, when a scan revealed that the baby no longer had a heartbeat.

“I remember sobbing. I was distraught. We basically lost the baby at 24 weeks,” she said, adding that the pain was compounded by the fact that she had already begun preparing a nursery.

This was not her first experience with pregnancy loss. Edwards revealed that she had previously suffered a miscarriage before the birth of her son Axel in August 2021 with fiancé and former Liverpool footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. She described Axel as her “rainbow baby,” born after earlier heartbreak.

The singer explained that she discovered she was pregnant again in 2024 while rehearsing for Little Mix’s final tour. However, the joy was cut short by the devastating second miscarriage, which she said left her feeling disoriented and alone.

McDonald also spoke about the impact of public speculation on her personal life, noting that constant questions about whether she was expecting made coping more difficult. She urged fans and the media to respect the privacy of women navigating pregnancy and loss, warning that speculation can deepen trauma.

Perrie Edwards rose to fame in 2011 as a member of Little Mix, one of the most successful girl groups of the past decade. Since the band announced an indefinite hiatus in 2022, she has pursued solo projects, including new music and the launch of her fashion brand.

Her candid revelation has since sparked conversations across the UK and beyond about pregnancy loss, a subject often shrouded in silence. Advocacy groups have praised her openness, saying it could help reduce stigma and encourage more women to share their experiences.
