Barnsley have parted ways with Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali after he failed to report back on time for preseason, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old, who joined the League One side last year, was told he is free to leave after his late return breached team discipline, leading to the termination of his contract.

Nwakali, once highly rated after captaining Nigeria to FIFA U-17 World Cup glory in 2015, has seen his career take him across Europe with stints in Spain and Portugal before moving to England.
His exit marks an early shake-up for Barnsley ahead of the new season, with the club expected to move quickly in reshaping their midfield options.
