The Independent National Electoral Commission has called on eligible voters to visit registration centres for corrections of personal details and replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Bauchi State, Umar Ibrahim, made the appeal on Friday, August 22, during a press briefing, stressing that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise was part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
He explained that the exercise covers fresh registration for new voters, correction of names, dates of birth, gender, or addresses, replacement of lost or defaced PVCs, transfer of voter registration across states, and collection of unclaimed PVCs from the 2022 registration.
Ibrahim disclosed that online pre-registration began on Monday, August 18, 2025, while physical registration will commence on Monday, August 25, 2025, at designated centres across the state.
“Both the online and physical processes will run simultaneously until August 30, 2026. To be eligible, one must be a Nigerian citizen, at least 18 years old, not previously registered, and physically present for biometric capture,” he stated.

He further explained that while the online registration portal is accessible round the clock at cvr.inecnigeria.org, physical registration will hold at the INEC State Office in Bauchi and the 20 INEC Local Government Offices between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm on weekdays, excluding public holidays.
The REC added that the Preliminary Register of Voters will be displayed every quarter for public scrutiny, allowing claims, objections, and corrections to ensure only eligible voters are retained on the final register.
He warned against multiple or underage registration, collection of PVCs by proxy, and obstruction of officials, saying such offences attract severe penalties under the Electoral Act 2022.
“I call on all eligible Nigerians in Bauchi State to take full advantage of this opportunity. Please register, update your records where necessary, and collect your PVCs.
“The Commission remains fully committed to ensuring a free, fair, transparent, and inclusive voter registration process,” Ibrahim said.
