Vivian Jenna Wilson, the transgender daughter of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, has revealed that she does not receive any inheritance from her father and lives with three roommates in Los Angeles to cover housing costs.
In an interview published by The Cut on August 29, 2025, the 21-year-old said public assumptions about her financial status are false.
“People assume I have a lot of money. I don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars at my disposal. College is expensive. I don’t have that inheritance,” she said.
Wilson explained that she has no desire to be wealthy.
“I don’t have a desire to be superrich. I can afford food. I have friends, a shelter and some expendable income, which is nice and much more fortunate than most people my age in Los Angeles,” she added.
Born Xavier Alexander Musk, she legally changed her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson in April 2022, the month she turned 18.

In her petition filed in a California court, she stated that she no longer wished to be associated with her father “in any way, shape or form.”
She also adopted her mother’s surname, aligning with Canadian author Justine Wilson, who divorced Musk in 2008.
Since distancing herself from Musk, she has spoken publicly about building her own life.
She has appeared in modeling campaigns, featured on the cover of Teen Vogue, and spoken about the challenges of navigating fame, including wearing disguises in public to avoid harassment.
Her disclosure adds to the ongoing public attention on her estrangement from Elon Musk and underscores her determination to live independently.
