Kwankwaso’s Ally Jibrin Hints at Leaving NNPP, Says ‘Nothing Is Impossible’

Abdulmumin Jibrin, the lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, has suggested that his stay in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) may not be permanent.

In an interview with DCL Hausa, he explained that although the Kwankwasiyya movement played a major role in helping him win his seat in 2023, he also made sacrifices to strengthen the party.

He pointed out that the NNPP has openly declared its willingness to hold talks with other parties, stressing that he is free to take a separate political path if he chooses.

Speaking about his relationship with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Jibrin said disagreements would never lead to personal attacks.

“Even if we part ways politically, I will always hold Kwankwaso in high regard and not insult him, just as I never insulted former Kano Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje despite our differences,” he said.

Responding to speculation about his next move, the lawmaker added: “Nothing is impossible. I can remain in NNPP, I can go back to APC, I can join ADC or PDP or even PRP. I can go to wherever I like. Any time I decide, I will make my position known.”

Though still officially with the NNPP, Jibrin is perceived as being close to President Bola Tinubu, having previously served as his campaign director before he left the APC in 2023.

Recently, Jibrin revealed during an interview on Channels Television that Kwankwaso himself has not ruled out the possibility of returning to the ruling APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

He has continued to be one of the strongest voices speaking about Kwankwaso’s political future, insisting the former governor remains open to discussions with the ruling party.
