FCT Resident Doctors Suspend Strike, to Resume Monday

Resident doctors in the Federal Capital Territory have suspended their indefinite strike and will return to work on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 8 a.m.

The Association of Resident Doctors, FCT chapter (ARD-FCTA), announced the decision after intervention by the Senate Committee on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters and in consideration of appeals by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

The doctors, however, noted that as of the time of suspension, none of their demands had been met.

The strike, which began earlier this week, was called over poor working conditions, unpaid salary arrears, unexplained deductions, and lack of essential medical equipment in FCT hospitals.

The Senate Committee urged the Federal Capital Territory Administration to address the grievances without delay and promised to liaise directly with the Minister to ensure a lasting resolution.

The ARD-FCTA said it would continue to monitor the government’s response and would not hesitate to take further action if the issues remain unresolved.
