Finland Launches Seasonal Work Program Offering €1,430 Monthly Salary to Foreign Workers

The Finnish Immigration Service has opened applications for the 2025 Seasonal Work Permit, offering foreign nationals, including Nigerians, the chance to work in Finland’s agriculture, forestry, and tourism sectors later this year.

The permits provide temporary employment for up to nine months within a 12-month period, with a guaranteed minimum monthly salary of €1,430 (approximately N2.2 million), unless otherwise specified by a collective agreement.

The application portal, which opened on September 20, 2025, in Helsinki, is part of Finland’s effort to attract migrant workers while ensuring compliance with labor regulations.

Applicants must secure the appropriate permit before traveling to Finland.

Types of Permits

Seasonal Work Visa (Up to 3 Months): Required for applicants from countries needing a visa. Visa-exempt nationals can apply for a certificate for seasonal work directly through the Finnish Immigration Service.

Residence Permit for Seasonal Work (3–9 Months): Needed for employment lasting between three and nine months. Early application is advised, as processing can take up to 90 days.
