Ogun Seals Bakery, Church Over Pollution Threats

The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) has sealed off Imole Ayomi Bakery, and End-Time Grace Apostolic Church in Abeokuta for violating environmental regulations.

The agency’s Chairman of the Task Force on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, Farouk Akintunde, who is also the Special Adviser to the Governor on OGEPA, announced the closures on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Akintunde said the bakery, located along Abiola Way in Asero, was shut down for air pollution with serious health risks, while the church at Ago-Oko was sealed for noise pollution that endangered public health and disturbed community peace.

“These facilities were sealed after they ignored prior warnings from OGEPA. Environmental protection is non-negotiable because public health and community safety come first,” Akintunde said.

He urged residents to report environmental infractions promptly, stressing the state’s commitment to building a healthier and sustainable environment.
