The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has appointed Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Humaid as the new Grand Mufti of the Kingdom and Head of the Senior Council of Scholars.
The appointment was confirmed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques following the passing of Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, who died on Tuesday at the age of 82 after serving in the role for nearly two decades.
Sheikh Humaid, a respected Islamic scholar, currently serves as one of the nine Imams of the Grand Mosque in Mecca. His new appointment positions him as the highest religious authority in the Kingdom, tasked with providing guidance on Islamic jurisprudence and overseeing the work of the Senior Council of Scholars.
