Fubara Dissolves Cabinet, Thanks Commissioners for Service

Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dissolved his cabinet, ending the tenure of all commissioners and key appointees, in a move that coincided with Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, October 1, in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.

Before the decision took effect, Governor Fubara held a private valedictory session with the outgoing cabinet at Government House, Port Harcourt.

The meeting served both as a farewell to his team and part of the state’s activities to mark Independence Day.

In his remarks, Fubara praised the commissioners for their service. “I want to thank you all for your contributions and dedication to the growth and development of Rivers State over the past two years,” he said.

The governor used the occasion to reflect on Nigeria’s unity, calling on citizens to support the country’s leader. “Let us join hands with the President in building a peaceful, secure, and prosperous nation,” Fubara said.

He further assured Rivers people of his continued dedication to service. “I remain committed to serving the people of Rivers State with renewed vigour. I appreciate your support and wish Nigerians a joyful 65th Independence Anniversary,” he added.

With the cabinet dissolved, attention now shifts to what comes next for Fubara’s administration, as Rivers residents await the unveiling of a new team to drive the state’s agenda forward.
