NPF Mourns Legendary Officer: Former DIG Parry Osayande Dies at 88

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced the death of retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Parry Benjamin Osemwegie Osayande, CFR, OFR, NPM, mni, who passed away in Benin City on Sunday, September 28, 2025, a day before his 89th birthday.

The announcement was made on Thursday, October 2, 2025, via the NPF’s official X account.

Osayande, a highly respected officer, served the Force and the nation in several senior roles, including as Commissioner of Police in multiple states and later as Deputy Inspector-General of Police.

He chaired the Police Service Commission (PSC) from 2008 to 2013 and led key presidential committees on police reform, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, accountability, and dedication to national security.

In a condolence message, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commiserated with Osayande’s family, the PSC, and his associates, describing his contributions to policing and internal security as “invaluable.”

The NPF prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and for strength for his family to bear the loss. Funeral and memorial arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
