Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, launched a N2.55 billion menstrual health initiative in Owerri, Imo State, aimed at improving hygiene and educational outcomes for schoolgirls.
The programme, titled “Flow with Confidence” and implemented through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), is set to provide a one-year supply of sanitary pads to 370,000 girls in rural communities nationwide, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Speaking at the event, the First Lady underscored the role of menstrual health in keeping girls in school and enhancing their overall well-being.

She stressed that access to sanitary products is essential for bridging gender gaps in education and fostering self-confidence among female students.
The initiative forms part of the First Lady’s broader commitment to empowering women and girls in underserved communities through health, education, and social welfare programmes, reinforcing the government’s focus on inclusive development.
