Diddy Sentenced to 50 Months in Prison on Prostitution Charges

Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced Friday to 50 months in federal prison after being convicted on two prostitution-related charges in a case that has shaken the entertainment industry and tarnished the legacy of one of hip-hop’s most influential figures.

U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian delivered the ruling in Manhattan federal court, also imposing a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release. The judge underscored that Combs’s celebrity and wealth did not exempt him from accountability, describing his actions as exploitative and damaging.

Combs, 55, was convicted in July of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. He was acquitted of more serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, after a month-long trial that drew national attention.

Prosecutors had pushed for a sentence exceeding 11 years, citing allegations of violence, coercion, and organized sex parties — described in court as “freak-offs.” Defense attorneys, meanwhile, requested a lighter term, pointing to Combs’s philanthropic work and arguing that he had already endured significant public and personal consequences.

In court, Combs offered an apology to his former partners and family, expressing regret for what he described as “serious mistakes.” He remains in custody, with time already served since his September 2024 arrest to be credited toward his prison term.

Singer Cassie Ventura, Combs’s former partner whose testimony proved pivotal to the case, welcomed the outcome through her representatives. While acknowledging that the sentence cannot erase past trauma, Ventura said it provides recognition of the harm caused and a measure of justice.

Combs has signaled his intention to appeal the conviction, leaving the next chapter of his legal battle still unfolding.
