The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has joined the global community in celebrating teachers on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day 2025, urging renewed efforts to tackle the global shortage of educators.
In a statement released on Sunday and made available to Channels Television, the First Lady described teachers as “true heroes, shaping minds, nurturing dreams, and guiding generations.”
Tinubu, who noted that she is a lifelong teacher herself, expressed deep admiration for educators across Nigeria and beyond, commending their dedication to nation-building and the development of humanity.
She highlighted this year’s theme, “Focusing on the Global Teacher Shortage,” as a timely reminder of the need to address the declining number of teachers worldwide.

“The shortage of teachers is a challenge we must confront with urgency by empowering educators, investing in their growth, and inspiring more to join this noble profession,” she said.
The First Lady concluded her message with a salute to teachers everywhere, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to society and extending her best wishes on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day 2025.
