The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has given the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) a seven-day deadline to end their ongoing disagreement and avert a possible strike that could once again stall academic activities across universities.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Wednesday, the 15th of October, 2025, and signed by NANS President, Olushola Oladoja.
NANS voiced its worry over the renewed tension between the two parties, stressing that Nigerian students would no longer tolerate any disruption to the school calendar.
Oladoja noted that under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Administration, universities had witnessed two consecutive academic years without interruption, a development he described as unprecedented since Nigeria’s return to democratic governance in 1999.

He added that the current threat by ASUU to embark on strike was putting this progress at risk.
“It is, therefore, in this spirit that NANS appeals to both ASUU and the Federal Government’s negotiation team to find a workable and lasting solution within the next seven (7) days.
“Nigerian students, many of whom are now studying through educational loans, cannot afford to have their academic calendar disrupted or their duration on campus extended again,” the students’ body warned.
