FAAC Windfall: FG, States, LGs Share N2.1trn as September Revenue Surges

The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has shared a total sum of N2.103 trillion from the September 2025 Federation Account Revenue to the Federal Government, States, and Local Government Councils.

The allocation was made at the October 2025 FAAC meeting held in Abuja. According to a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the total distributable revenue comprised N1.239 trillion statutory revenue, N812.593 billion Value Added Tax (VAT), and N51.684 billion from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL).

The communiqué stated that N3.054 trillion was the total gross revenue available in September 2025. From this amount, N116.149 billion was deducted for the cost of collection, while N835.005 billion was set aside for transfers, interventions, refunds, and savings.

Gross statutory revenue for September 2025 stood at N2.128 trillion, representing a decrease of N710.134 billion compared to the N2.838 trillion recorded in August 2025. However, VAT revenue rose to N872.630 billion, higher than the N722.619 billion recorded in the previous month by N150.011 billion.

From the total distributable sum of N2.103 trillion, the Federal Government received N711.314 billion, States received N727.170 billion, and Local Government Councils got N529.954 billion. A further N134.956 billion (13% of mineral revenue) was shared to the oil-producing states as derivation revenue.

Breakdown of the distributable statutory revenue of N1.239 trillion showed that the Federal Government received N581.672 billion, States received N295.032 billion, and Local Governments got N227.457 billion, while N134.956 billion went to the derivation states.

Out of the N812.593 billion VAT revenue, the Federal Government received N121.889 billion, States received N406.297 billion, and Local Governments received N284.408 billion.

Similarly, from the N51.684 billion EMTL, the Federal Government got N7.753 billion, States received N25.842 billion, and Local Governments got N18.089 billion.

FAAC further noted that revenue from Import Duty, VAT, and EMTL recorded significant increases in September, while Companies Income Tax (CIT) and CET Levies decreased considerably. Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) increased marginally, whereas Oil and Gas Royalty and Excise Duty witnessed slight declines.
