Popular actor and activist Debo Adebayo, widely known as Mr Macaroni, has paid tribute to victims of the October 20, 2020 Lekki Toll Gate shooting, condemning Nigeria’s political leaders for their alleged role in the tragedy and ongoing hardship faced by citizens.
In a post shared via his X handle on Monday, Macaroni described Nigerian leaders as “the most corrupt and evil people,” accusing them of betraying the nation’s youth who sacrificed their lives during the #EndSARS protests against police brutality.
“Nigerian Youths lost their lives, jobs, families and dreams at the hands of the most corrupt and evil People we call Leaders!!!” he wrote.
The outspoken activist also expressed dismay over what he described as a growing indifference among Nigerians, lamenting that many citizens have become sympathetic to their oppressors.

“Even though my people are now in love with their Oppressors, this day 20/10/2020 is never to be forgotten nor forgiven!” he added.
Mr Macaroni, one of the prominent figures during the 2020 #EndSARS movement, has remained a consistent voice for accountability and justice, often using his platform to highlight issues of governance, corruption, and human rights violations in Nigeria.
The post comes as Nigerians across the country and in the diaspora mark the fifth anniversary of the Lekki Toll Gate shooting, a night that left many dead or injured after security forces opened fire on peaceful demonstrators calling for an end to police brutality.
