Wike: No FCT Administration Matches Tinubu’s Project Legacy

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has thrown a challenge to past FCT administrations to present records showing they executed more projects than the current government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Wike made the statement on Tuesday during the commissioning of the newly completed Engineering Infrastructure in Wuye District, marking the end of over a month of project inaugurations across the FCT.

According to the minister, the series of projects launched under the Tinubu administration reflect a leadership focused on improving the lives of residents in the capital city.

“I want to challenge anybody who would say that in the history of the FCT, any administration has beaten the record of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Wike declared. “If there is any since the inception of the FCT that has done better than President Tinubu’s government, let him speak now or forever remain silent.”

Among the projects commissioned or flagged off by Wike are 12 new roads across various districts, the “Light Up Abuja” Solar Streetlight Project (Lot 1), access roads to the Mabushi Bus Terminal, water supply expansion to satellite towns (Lots 1 and 2), and the construction of 600-bed hostels for the Nigerian Law School in Bwari.

The minister revealed that the Wuye District infrastructure project was originally awarded in 2009 but left uncompleted until the current administration intervened.

“This contract was awarded in 2009—16 years ago. Was Bola Ahmed Tinubu the president then? No. But today, the project is completed. We have changed the narrative and shamed the opposition. The FCT is now working,” he said.

Wike further disclosed that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) would soon begin commissioning renovated schools across the territory.

Turning to politics, the minister reaffirmed his loyalty to President Tinubu and vowed to support all political aspirants in the FCT who align themselves with the President’s vision.

“For all of you running for election and supporting the President, I’ll support you one hundred per cent. As long as you stand with Asiwaju, you have my full backing,” he said, predicting what he called an impending “political tsunami” in the nation’s capital.

Wike’s remarks come as the FCTA continues its push to deliver multiple infrastructural and development projects in line with the “Renewed Hope” agenda of the Tinubu administration.
