The Kwara State Government has formed two technical committees, comprising professionals and labour representatives, to review existing gratuity records at both the state and local government levels. The move aims to authenticate records and clear eligible pensioners for payment based on their retirement dates.
In a statement released in Ilorin on Friday, the 31st of October, 2025, the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, said the state’s eight-member gratuities committee will be chaired by the State Auditor General, while the Local Government Auditor General will head the team for local government gratuities.
According to the statement, members of the committees include representatives of retired permanent secretaries, the association of retired civil servants, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and the Trade Union Congress (TUC). Others are accounting and finance officers certified by ICAN and ANAN. Mrs. Iyabo Adebayo will serve as secretary for the state committee, while Mrs. Amina Ahmed will serve as secretary for the local government team.
The local government committee also includes representatives of the retired local government civil servants’ association and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

“The primary objective of the committee is to ensure the accuracy and transparent compilation of outstanding state and LGA gratuities for eligible pensioners in readiness for automated bank transfer payments,” the statement added.
The committees have been tasked with obtaining detailed yearly gratuity schedules from the pension boards, verifying their accuracy, and confirming pensioners’ qualifications using PSN/Pension Numbers, KWSSRA SSID database, and NIN.
They are also expected to reconcile all records with available government data, prioritise payment recommendations based on the oldest outstanding years, and ensure all documentation is transparent, accountable, and ready for audit.
