Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Sama’ila Bagudo, was abducted on Friday, October 31, 2025, in Bagudo town, Bagudo Local Government Area, prompting an urgent rescue operation by the Kebbi State Police Command, military personnel, and local vigilantes.
According to a statement by CSP Nafiu Abubakar, Police Public Relations Officer, Bagudo was kidnapped at around 8:20 p.m., shortly after performing Isha’i prayers on his way home.
The Police Command said a joint operation is actively combing escape routes and surrounding forests to rescue the lawmaker unharmed and apprehend the kidnappers.
Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, reassured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure Bagudo’s safe recovery.

He urged residents to remain calm, stay vigilant, and provide information that could aid the ongoing search.
“We are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the safe recovery of the Deputy Speaker,” Sani said, adding that the command is closely coordinating with the military and local vigilante groups.
The Kebbi State Police confirmed that the situation is under continuous monitoring, and security agencies are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
