The Lagos State Police Command has launched an intensive manhunt for a four-man gang that stole a 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 at gunpoint in Victoria Island in the early hours of Saturday, November 1, 2025.
The black luxury SUV, bearing registration number WTO 21 AM and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) 4JGFB4FB8SB274117, was taken around 12 a.m. on Akin-Olugbade Street after armed men accosted the driver and forced him out at gunpoint.
Eyewitnesses said the robbers fired a warning shot into the air to disperse bystanders before speeding away with the vehicle, which was last seen heading toward the Ozumba Mbadiwe axis.
The driver reportedly sustained minor injuries after resisting the assailants.
Witnesses described the attack as swift and coordinated, suggesting it was carefully premeditated.
A senior officer at the Victoria Island Division confirmed that the stolen vehicle had been placed on both the Lagos State and national security watchlists.

“Joint patrols involving anti-robbery, surveillance, and intelligence teams are already active. All exit routes from Victoria Island are under close watch,” the officer said.
Police described the stolen car as a black metallic Mercedes-Benz GLE 350, with factory-tinted windows, brown leather interior, LED headlamps, AMG alloy wheels, and a chrome front grille.
The Command urged members of the public, including car dealers and auto technicians, to be vigilant and report any vehicle matching the description to the nearest police station or through official emergency hotlines.
The robbery has intensified safety concerns in Victoria Island, where residents and business owners are calling for improved night patrols, functional streetlights, and stronger collaboration between security agencies and private estate guards.
