First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Tuesday condemned the abduction of 25 students of Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
She made the remarks during a visit by the Wives of Service Chiefs to the State House, Abuja, where she requested a minute of silence in honour of the slain Vice Principal and the abducted students.
The delegation included Mrs Sefiyan Shuaibu, Mrs Ngozi Aneke, Mrs Aishatu Abass, and Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun, representing the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Police Officers’ Wives Associations, respectively.
Mrs Tinubu commended the new service chiefs for their efforts toward strengthening national security and praised their spouses for supporting them and contributing to community development. She urged the wives to deepen collaboration with her office, noting her previous partnerships with former service chiefs’ spouses, particularly in supporting widows and veterans.
The First Lady also expressed concern over the difficult conditions security personnel face, especially in conflict-prone areas like Kebbi State. She lauded their resilience and dedication despite the personal risks involved.
Outlining forthcoming humanitarian programmes, Mrs Tinubu announced initiatives under her NGO, The Renewed Hope Initiative, including financial support for persons with disabilities on December 3 and assistance to the elderly on December 16. She disclosed that N100 million had been earmarked to support vulnerable groups across the country.
