Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday ordered that the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, must not be allowed access to any digital devices unless under strict supervision.
Delivering additional directives following his conviction, the judge said Kanu’s past activities showed that unrestricted access to digital tools could pose national security risks. “Nnamdi Kanu must not be allowed near any digital devices, and if he must, he must be closely monitored by the Office of the National Security Adviser,” Justice Omotosho ruled.
The court held that the restriction was necessary to prevent the dissemination of broadcasts and directives similar to those cited during trial, which the prosecution argued had incited violence and terrorist acts.

Kanu, who has been in the custody of the Department of State Services since June 2021, was earlier convicted on multiple counts, including terrorism and incitement.
