FCTA Orders School Shutdown With Immediate Effect

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has issued a directive ordering all public senior secondary schools in Abuja, the nation’s capital, to shut down on or before Friday, the 28th of November, 2025, citing urgent security concerns.

This critical measure was communicated via a memo on Tuesday, the 25th of November, by the Director of School Services for the FCT Secondary Education Board, Aishatu Sani Alhassan.

The memo instructed principals and heads of schools to immediately cease all academic activities and ensure that students are dismissed in an orderly and safe manner.

Furthermore, schools were directed to notify all learners, staff, and parents of the sudden closure, adjust any scheduled academic activities, and prepare to resume only on the next official school day, unless new directives are issued by the FCTA.

This development follows the recent spate of attacks on schools in various parts of the country, which have tragically resulted in the mass abduction of students.
