SGF Akume to Bishops: Tinubu Committed to Eradicating Insecurity

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s determination to tackle insecurity in Nigeria while urging international and regional partners to strengthen collaboration in the fight against terrorism.

Speaking on Friday, November 28, during a courtesy visit by the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), led by its President, Archbishop Leonard Kawas, Akume emphasised the government’s resolve.

“The government is seriously committed to eradicating insecurity. We need support from our allies to be able to fight terrorists in the land,” he said.

He added that the administration is taking all necessary steps to protect lives and property, noting that the confidence shown in the government reflects the progress made in addressing insecurity and other national challenges.

Akume also highlighted the role of partnerships with traditional leaders, the private sector, political actors, and religious organisations in building a strong and united nation.

He encouraged faith groups to continue praying for peace and prosperity across the country.

Archbishop Kawas praised the government’s efforts and reiterated the CBCN’s commitment to supporting national security initiatives through prayers and advocacy for unity.

The visit comes amid international claims of a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria, allegations that the government has consistently rejected.
